The discrepancy between the cultivated area and the legal area of land, the scale of agribusiness and the dynamics of changes in the land bank create the need to regularly update field contours. The availability of current contours, exact area and boundaries of cultivated fields allow to avoid excessive costs on “non-existent” hectares and is the basis for the introduction of precision farming approaches at the enterprise.
Field measurement is based on collecting raw data about the land bank from the register of fields, raster and vector maps. It allows to obtain high-resolution orthophotos of the relief and determine the real areas of the fields, taking into account the relief and technical losses.

The cost of field measurement depends on the tasks that need to be solved. A detailed audit of the company’s land bank, the implementation of precision farming require accurate measurements and geodetic reference. Competitor or exchange analysis can be performed based on open satellite data and data from geoportals. Therefore, the price can vary from UAH 5/ha to UAH 20/ha.
The exact area of the field is necessary for the correct budgeting of commodities, services and salaries at the beginning of the season and their proper distribution. Accurate field contours are required for Land Bank Balance reports, Field Ratings, Exchange Balances, as well as for precision farming systems.

The main directions for obtaining accurate contours that we use are field measurements using drones, UAVs and aviation. Today, aerial photography is the fastest and most accurate method of field measurement, providing the lowest data acquisition error compared to other methods.
While measuring fields using aerial photography, in addition to a relief map, you can also get analytics for agricultural production — digitized over- and underpopulated areas, trampling of plants, overflows or under-fertilization, areas with overwetting and puddles, other problems of technological operations.
